How we compared these socks
We sell one of the products on this page, so we kept to facts each company publishes. We checked every product page, listing and policy on October 18, 2026, and each fact links to its source at the bottom of this page.
We compared:
- The price shown on the day we checked
- The compression level in mmHg
- Toe styles and sizes
- Return terms and shipping, where the seller states them
We did not test or score other brands, and we don't name a winner. Prices, sales and policies change often. Always check the seller's own page before you buy.
What each company publishes
ZipperSocks (ours)
Our Zip-Up Compression Socks are knee-high with graduated 15-20 mmHg compression, a full-length side zipper and a soft fabric guard behind the teeth. They come in closed toe and open toe, black or beige, sizes M to 3XL by calf width. They are made in an FDA-registered facility.
Zippra
Zippra's product page lists 15-20 mmHg graduated compression, a side zipper with a protective inner lining, Classic (closed) or open toe, black or beige, and sizes M to 3XL by calf width. Its fabric is listed as 75% nylon, 20% spandex and 5% polyester. Its pages show a 90-day money-back guarantee, and the home page also mentions a lifetime warranty.
Ailaka
Ailaka sells zipper socks on Amazon. The closed-toe listing we checked is 15-20 mmHg, 75% nylon and 25% spandex, with inner fabric under the zipper, in sizes S/M to 5XL and several colors. The open-toe listing is also 15-20 mmHg, in sizes S/M to 3XL. Both ship from Amazon.
Truform
Truform makes knee-high zipper stockings (0675 with an open toe, and 6665 at 20-30 mmHg) and a thigh-high zipper stocking (0678, 15-20 mmHg, open foot). Each has a protective sleeve behind the zipper. Truform sizes by ankle and calf measurements plus leg length, and sells through stores and medical retailers.
JOBST
JOBST's zipper option is the UlcerCARE system, an outer stocking with an optional left or right zipper worn over a liner. JOBST says it is designed to manage venous leg ulcers, at about 40 mmHg at the ankle. JOBST's Opaque and Relief stocking pages do not list a zipper option.
Return terms: read the fine print
With compression socks, the return policy matters more than usual. You often can't tell if a pair fits and feels right until you have worn it for a day or two, and many people wash new socks before wearing them.
- ZipperSocks: 90 days, worn and washed is OK, free US return label. See our returns page.
- Zippra: 90 days. Its refund policy says returned items must be unused, with tags, in original packaging. It lists washed socks as not returnable, and the buyer pays return shipping to Slovenia.
- Ailaka on Amazon: the listing shows a free 30-day refund or replacement.
- Truform and JOBST: sold through retailers and dealers, so the store you buy from sets the terms.
Which zipper sock is right for you
- Lowest price per pair: the Ailaka listings we checked had the lowest single-pair price.
- A firmer level, such as 20-30 mmHg: Truform 6665 is listed at 20-30 mmHg. Truform's own chart says a prescription is recommended at that level, so ask your doctor first.
- Thigh-high length: Truform 0678 is a thigh-high zipper stocking.
- A leg ulcer: JOBST UlcerCARE is designed for this. Use it under the care of your doctor or wound nurse.
- Wide calves: compare each brand's size chart against your calf measurement. Ours go up to 20 inches at the widest point. See compression socks for wide calves.
- Trying them at home with no risk: our 90-day guarantee covers socks you have worn and washed.
What to check before you buy any zipper sock
- The mmHg number. 15-20 mmHg is a common everyday level. Firmer levels are usually worn on a doctor's advice. Our guide to what mmHg means explains the numbers.
- Your calf measurement. Measure the widest part of your calf in the morning and match it to the brand's chart, not just your shoe size.
- A guard behind the zipper. Look for a fabric strip or sleeve between the teeth and your skin.
- Toe style. Closed toe is warmer and looks like a normal sock. Open toe suits long or wide feet and makes it easy to check your toes.
- Return terms. Check whether you can return a pair after wearing or washing it, and who pays return shipping.
Compression socks are not right for everyone. If you have peripheral arterial disease, poor circulation in the legs, heart failure, skin infections or open wounds, or reduced feeling in your feet, talk to your doctor before wearing them.
